DIGITAL JONES - live - 29 July 2010

Tonight we celebrate the new album launch from funk/soul/electro band Digital Jones

Digital Jones are a wee band with a massive soul.  Stomping all over the standard musical fair these electronic songsters have pounced and unleashed their signature sound upon the unsuspecting public.  Combining live and sample sounds, Digital Jones make canny knowing music.  Through the power of the MPC this band have corrupted Phil Mcbride's fat upright bass grooves with some flithy, flatulent synth and disitlled driving hard 80's electro beats with fierce live drums from tight as a button Jamie Graham.  Throw in some Prince-esque horns and compelling key melodies from Chuck Dearness and front it with the rich and sassy vocals of screaming red headed diva Nikki Kent and you got yourself a real heavy sound.

This is music with the hard driving edge of electro at its most vital, but it is designed to be made and played live and Digital Jones were born to play out.  Their chemistry and energy really come to light in their live show and this was made all the more apparent after an incredible sold out gig supporting soul legend Marlena Shaw.

Their eargerly- awaited debut album will be premiered tonight!

BIG N BASHY feat Elijah & Skilliam - 31 July 2010

Big N Bashy is one the hottest nights to hit Edinburgh’s Saturday night club scene in recent years, which has already gained a steady and loyal following amongst Edinburgh’s clubbers for its up-to-the-minute, bass-heavy sounds.

Special guests tonight are Elijah & Skilliam [Rinse FM/Butterzblog.co.uk] and Taz Buckfaster [Subway/Elektrikal], with resident DJs playing tonight, Deburgh [grime] and Decoy Roy [reggae]

Bored of the usual one genre per night ethos of most nights, the Big N Bashy team plays the finest reggae, grime, dubstep and jungle through a monster combination of the Bongo Club's in- house sound system and an extra six subs care of the well respected dub reggae sounds of the mighty Messenger Sound System.

With this great combo of musical styles and a killer sound system Big N Bashy delivers the biggest beats and bashiest basslines, while The Messenger ensures the good vibrations all night long!

THE WILDERS - live - 1 August 2010

Dagnabbit!  Those lovable Kansas rascals exit the watermelon patch to make a very welcome return visit to the Bongo Club

In full, unstoppable flight, the band is firmly established as an Edinburgh Fringe favourite after sell-out runs over three consecutive years at The Famous Spiegeltent.  Triumphant winners of a Herald Angel with a five-star review from the publication, The Scotsman said: ‘They generate the kind of tunes that should by rights leave vapour trails’. The Missouri-based four-piece, is back to thrill capacity crowds again following their sensational tour here last year.

Playing storming roots-of-country and old-time with a pure essence of early rockabilly, they deliver a blistering fiddle/banjo/guitar/dobro/slap bass hoedown, playing whiz-bang music as infectious, fun-loving and goodtime as you will ever hear.
