Photographs from Uganda

By Tim Aikman

Graduating from Stevenson College with a Licentiateship of the British Institute of Professional Photography, I have pursued my interest in the developing world and its peoples by combining work as a documentary photography with that of an aid worker

whilst taking the opportunity to travel within East Central Africa.

My aid work begun in 1996 when I worked with the London based organisation Frontier in Uganda and Tanzania. Playing a crucial role in gathering information on endangered wildlife, their habitats and the use of natural resources by local communities, our field-work was a joint enterprise with local organisations in some of the earth’s richest and most threatened biological hotspots.

More recently, I have worked in Uganda with two indigenous NGO’s where I would work as part of an international team, providing tuition in HIV/AIDS prevention, administering the HIV peer educator training, assisting in the construction of housing, chicken and pig-pens along with the provision of an outreach program where we would ensure the wellbeing of families affected by HIV/AIDS.

Currently in Edinburgh and available for editorial and documentary work there a number of images available for sale.
